Sorry you missed out on the domain name, but it helped me when I was in an auction for an expiring domain name. I was watch the auction close with several different devices incase I lost connection with one. Luckily I was able to get it, and I wrote up a blog article about my experience:

Ok- I am really annoyed now- wish I had read further down the article and seen these comments below BEFORE I had put in a bid at snap names.

I did a who-is search for who owned a domain I was interested in- Moniker.com was listed as the owner, and when I went there a few days ago, it said that it was available, min. bid $1,000, etc.

After a few days of thought, I figured I would try to get it. Soooo, today, I went back to moniker.com, and it brought up the search results & it said that I could "buy it now" for $1,350.00 at snap names. So, I did, or so I though....................!!!

After the payment was complete, I realized in HORROR that the domain I had purchased was the same 2 words, (for example, instead of "militarypride.com", I had actually purchased "pridemilitary.com", without noticing). Ok- I am seething & I didn't even get a reach-around.

Nothing was mentioned when I did the search for the available domain name, about the actual one I was trying to buy, just a "buy it now" offer for the stupid domain name I just wasted over $1350 for.

I will NEVER buy anything from Network Solutions again, & so far, everything about them sucks. Thank goodness I left their awful hosting services to go to volusion.com. Volusion has been great-wish all of my domain names were with them, but volusion won't accept domain name transfers, unfortunately.

please don't waste your money w Network Solutions or Moniker or Snap names, all apparently owned and/or run by people with no moral fiber and no decency. I am sure Moniker aka Network Solutions still owns the domain I want, but I will just go elsewhere and register something else.

The "Bait & Switch" scam they just pulled on me should be illegal

not so unique after all is it?
Attention -

Present and former customers of
RegisterFly.com

Class Action Lawsuit Against RegisterFly, ICANN, and ENOM
Have you been denied or are you being denied access to your domain names that you have registered at RegisterFly.com?

Have you lost domain names despite attempting to renew them through RegisterFly.com or transfer them elsewhere?

Have you been charged for services that were not delivered by RegisterFly.com?

Was the domain contact and/or ownership information changed without your permission to either RegisterFly.com or someone else entirely?

oh boy are you on the money here friend, too late for me because that is exactly how my name played out with no one any where at any time to respond to my concerns?
Now some korean outfit is parking on my domain for over 1,000 times the amount I paid?
The folks who are working the crowds here like pick pockets are going to get theirs soon enough as the several states' Attornies Generals get in on this for their own stimulus funds?

I've got one for you. Try to get domains accepted to the Moniker auctions and watch them ignore you the first time, then on the 2nd go around they say they've accepted a few of your names. Youre set up for the sting... they require you to register your domain(s) with them or they'll beat you for $100 on each domain that sells in auction. THEN when you move them you also have to pay for a year up front regardless of how long the domain is already registered for. I paid $38 to move 4 domains that I wanted to sell in TRAFFIC (which didnt) and now own them for over 3 years. Something smells fishy in this whole Moniker/Snapnames thing. Wanna bet they wait for unsuspecting domain owners to put a $0 reserve on a great name and the "SNAP" it up themselves?

Great article. Attention everyone: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. DON'T MAKE CRAPNAMES RICH (same goes for all the other sleazy domain grabbing/extorting companies). Also, using "backorder" and "domain broker" services are as useful as taking a dump and lighting it on fire. Makes you feel good but in the end you just have a smoldering heap of crap.

I have learned that the best (and cheapest) way to acquire an expired domain is to sit tight, pretetend it's worthless, don't tell anyone that you're interested (least of all the sleazy domain grabbers), and you'll see they'll release it back to the public within 3 days.

The whole bidding process is a scam. It's not an auction. It's just their way of learning if anyone is interested in the name. Bidding on a domain is the equivalent of telling them "Woohoo I have $$$$$$ 4U!!!" You may be the only bidder, but they will mysteriously raise the bid price (see Greg Deskin's post above).

Don't play their game. Just sit tight and wait for them to release the domain after 3 days. Then you can register the name for $5 at the registrar of your choice. This has worked for me in the past, no frustrations.

I did a few times back order, but i in the end never got the domain because the bidding price is $2500. I find it is hard to get good names unless you pay top dollar.

it's a friggin racket. i was the ONLY person who back ordered a certain domain at network solutions. when the domain expired, NetSol didn't contact me as they promised they would, instead CRAP names gave it to buydomains.com

it's a mafia of slimy liars.
