“a rite of passage” rather than “unacceptable failure”
I love it, the quote not the search engine. Remind me never to get on the wrong side of you... (:

I would tend to agree with you on most of your article, but I am really looking forward to seeing what comes of Cuil. Aside from the press hype, the word on the net today has been somewhat harsh towards the new search engine.

Although I am fairly new to this game, what has concerned me for the last couple of years is that Google doesn't seem to get any real bad press online. The SEO people seem to shy away from putting them down and the world just seems to think that it couldn't possibly get any better! The search results for local florist, which is a big part of what I do are indeed a sign that they can get better. Google's results are terrible and completely irrelevant content for this search in many cases.

I think the world is wrong and at some point there will be someone who overtakes Google. Cuil may or may not be that group, but I am hopefull that they expected the issues up front and will continue to improve and maintain some of the hype to keep them on the radar and moving up.
