Don’t Feed the Google - Why You Should be the Master of Your Own Domain

Google Feedburner Own as much of your content and distribution as you can.

Earlier this month when Google acquired Feedburner, it was yet another company getting assimilated into the Google borg. It is getting more and more difficult not to feed the voracious Google data mining machine. I used to have a Jotspot account, that got acquired by Google. If you had a YouTube account, Measure Map, or Dodgeball account, your data is now owned by Google. If you use Feedburner (I do), your data just got assimilated into the Google machine.

Short Comment Spam in Akismet

I’ve been seeing a lot of short spam comments bypass Akismet’s spam filters on this blog lately. This type of blog spam is a rather clever way to deceive the less-astute bloggers who don’t realize that it’s spam and approve the comment because it’s perceived as marginally relevant, only because it’s so general and vague.

Back from Miami and West Palm Beach

Miami beach skyline I was on vacation last week (hence the lack of posting). I spent a few days in Miami and a few days in West Palm Beach. The lovebugs on the way down were ridiculous.

Before going down I researched hotels and restaurants via Yahoo, Google, Citysearch, and TripAdvisor. I looked at traveler ratings accross these sites to determine what places looked worthy. Maybe I should do a post on “how to find a nice inexpensive hotel” since my “how to get the cheapest flight” post was so well received.
